Getting new tires has never really been my thing. I usually go there and get sucked in to whatever they try to get me to buy. Well this time was going to be different. I was prepaired, I knew exactly how to handle the situation....... So Danny had a blow out in my car the other day and he had to put the spare tire on. He was going to work the next day and said that I shouldn’t go anywhere unless I get a new tire put on first. SO I decided I would just take it up to Wal-mart and have them to put on a new tire for me, sounded easy enough. But before I went I decided I would clean out the trunk of my car so it would be easy for them to throw the spare tire back in. And so as I’m cleaning out the trunk I pull out the old blown out tire and put it in the Garage so that way there’d be plenty of room for the spare tire and the old one wouldn't be in the way. (Also I thought might as well save $3.00 so they don't have to charge me for disposing of it!!). anyway.. SO I make sure the hub cap is in there so they can put that on too… I get to walmart tell them I need a new tire, and start shopping. It was that easy! About 10 minutes later while I’m shopping in the store alone, I hear my name called on the loud speaker, “Chelle JONES please return to the automotive department!”.. I thought “Wow, they are fast! and this was all much easier than i had expected!” So I get back there only to find a few mechanics gathered together laughing at me! They said , “Hey where’s your rim? We can’t change the tire without the rim!”… I said “it’s in the trunk, I just put it in there cleaning out my car!"... they said, “we looked all over, no rim here! You sure you didn’t leave it on the side of the road?” So at this time for whatever reason I’m thinking they really mean the hub cap and I say, “No it’s in the trunk let me SHOW YOU!! I just put it in there!!” So I walk out there ready to show all these guys where it is, and see that they had already pulled the hub cap out of the car, so maybe that’s not the “rim” after all?? SO I start looking, not even knowing what I’m looking for… and at that time all I could think to say was to blame it on Danny! Lol… So I said.. “I don’t know where HE must of put that thing, I just assumed he put it in here!”.. They asked if I thought It might be at home, and for me to go get it.. I said it probably was, still not knowing what a rim was… So embarrassingly they backed the car out of the garage and I left…. Called Danny at work to ask what a rim was and where It would be… but he didn’t answer! So then I called dad!... and that’s when I learned that the rim is still attached to the old tire that I took out of the trunk!?! He said I Had to take the whole tire up there… So I loaded it in the car and head back to walmart.. and so as soon as I pull up all the mechanics are just staring at me.. saying “did you find it?”.. and I said, “Ya, I don’t know why my HUSBAND took it out, but I found it in the Garage!!” lol. (sorry danny). good thing Danny wasn’t there because I was throwing him under the bus.. So I go in to shop a little and decide to just go sit in automotive and wait on my car.. In the mean time every mechanic that came in and out the door had a comment to make about me coming in with no rim. Finally what seemed like hours later I was out of there…being laughed at the whole time!! Needless to say I know longer do tires! I will no longer be going to the automotive section at walmart, they all know my name and know me as the girl with no rim!! You would think that after all the years spent fixing my jeep on the side of the road, (the alternater, the fuses that would blow, drive shafts falling off....and much more) I would know what a "rim" was. Guess I could still use a few lessons on tires, that was one thing I didn't learn about so well. :O)
