(Boot Camp Graduation! Seeing Zach for the first time in 3 months!)
Dad told Zach in a dream that heaven is so amazing he couldn't even put it into words, because our mind could not comprehend it! How crazy is that to think about the wonder of heaven and my dad gets to be there!! I would much rather him be here, but i feel like I have got to be proud of what he is doing today. I believe that God needed him for a really important job and he knew my dad was the one for it! I can only imagine the welcome home party that my dad is putting together right now, to welcome us home. God picked out the perfect party planner for the job!
I will be sure Haylie knows all about her Pop-pop. So much to tell her and so many stories to share! She is going to think he was a crazy man, and rightfully so! I'll be sure she also knows-
- how crazy good looking he was (that would be at the top of my dads list to tell her about! lol)
- how he prayed over her from the day he found out she would be born.
(right after we told him we were having a baby! Still slightly confused! lol Once he understood he was overly excited! And prayed with us right then!)
- how he had a passion for life
(these two were always trouble together!)
- how he could make anything you ever dreamed of come true.
(If you wanted to meet the president, he could make it happen! He did autographs too!)
(he made this for our new house!!.. the things he would think of were never ending!)
(he made this for our new house!!.. the things he would think of were never ending!)
- he made the coolest tree house and perfected it just for his grandkids.
(we bought this slide at a garage sale and knew dad could make it work! He used a tree stump to put it on and made the handles!)
- how he could play the guitar and sing like no other!
(singing "I got you babe")
- how He was the love of our lives.
(Lolli & Pop)
- he was The life of the party.
(Last Halloween- He was dog the bounty hunter!)
- And he was the party wherever he went. He had a way of making any event a fun place to be. We strangely looked forward to family reunions if dad was going to be there!
(Poor uncle Jackie just got out of surgery! Dad was right by his side to make him laugh!)
- He was loud and proud and not afraid to speak his mind!
- He was always there to help out for anything!
(Grandad locked himself out of the house..decided to find an expert for some help.. Got my dad.. my dad came up with the great idea to climb into the smallest window of the whole house!.. this did not turn out so well...this is my dad taking the picture himself! He knew what he was up to!)
- He somehow could get away with anything
(most likely up to no good!)
- He was our rock. In times of troubles, my dad was the one to go to about anything. He would tell us exactly what we needed to be told (whether we wanted to hear it or not.) And he always reminded us that what we really needed to do was pray about it and he'd be the first to pray with us. He was not only there for any of his family, but friends and even clients would call on my dad for advice or just someone to pray with.
- and how he relied on duct tape and Velcro to make anything work! The inside of his truck is mostly covered in velcro so he could conveniently stick things all around for easy access!!
(he didn't use duct tape here.. but this is a heating blanket switch thing that he kept on his nightstand...the on button wouldn't stick, so apparently he used a toothpick to keep it in place..mostly a good idea in till you reach over in the middle of the night to change the setting and get stabbed!! ...yes, that happened to me!)
- and How he lived his life out loud! Literally! That might be what I loved most about him.
(He was a crazy bull rider!)
Each day we only miss him more! Missing his loudness, his singing, his crazy songs, and the list goes on and on. The things we love about dad are endless and the things we miss the most. What a great life to be remembered for so many great things, that it seems almost impossible to mention them all!
Can't wait for the day we get to attend the big welcome home party that dad is helping put together now!

Oh, Chelle ... what a wonderful tribute to your Dad!! Anybody that reads it, surely wishes they had known him if they didn't ... me included!!! I love a daughter and Dad relationship ... it's very special!!! And I'm sure Danny will have a special one with his little sweetheart ... I'm sure he learned lots from your Dad and his own!!!
Chelle this is the sweetest, funniest and saddest thing I have ever read. Dad was always SO extremely proud of you too. He always told everyone that his oldest daughter Chelle was the the first to gradiate (his word) college in our family. He once told me that he thought you were so extremely smart, smarter than beyond your years that it scared and intimidated him sometimes...(haha, and this is when you were in about the 4th grade and all the way until now....lol) How will we continue on without his fun full of life character and his crazy vocabulary? yet we could always "disypher" what he was talking about, it was like another language that just became so naturally we would have to explain it to the people outside the family what exactly he meant... We will continue because his memory has imprinted in our hearts so deep that we will always tell of his fun and his life. YOU, ZACH and CRICKET are soooo much like him in so many ways, sometimes it is just plain scary. I miss him so incredibly much, that I can only imagine the emptiness you, Zach and Cricket have in your hearts and the longing you have for him, but I agree with you that I believe that He is SO happy now and that God is using him for so much good that only Daddy could do. I am looking forward to that welcome home party. You know it will include a stage, sound system, a huge giant statue of some sort, a parade and a ton of food. Little baby Halo and Skylar are going to carry on some of his wonderful traits. Thank you so much for writing such a wonderful letter and posting some incredible pictures of your DAD, this too would have made his SO PROUD. He will forever and always be OUR hero. I love you, MOM.
PS... I also wanted to tell you that he always said that DANNY was the luckiest guy in the world, with one exception... HIM (Daddy) He always felt so extremely blessed to have 3 of the most wonderful kids in the world... AND he really meant it!!! If he said it once he said it a thousand times. You, Zach and Cricket have been and will continue to be our biggest blessing from GOD... now we get to include Danny, Skylar and now BABY HALO in that blessing as well.
Chelle, this is the sweetest, funniest and saddest thing I have ever read. You have all the right words and all ther right pictures. I miss him so incredibly much, that I can only imagine what any empty place is left for you, zach and cricket and danny, skylar and even little Halo, our newest angel, who got to hear his voice for a short while......how do we continue without his fun full of life character???? We trust God that he left that with us.. and he DID, it is all over YOU and ZACH and CRICKET, even SKYLAR has his crazy funniness... He will live on bigger than life in all our hearts, so many wonderful memories we will NEVER forget. He was extremely proud of you too Chelle, He once told me he was a little bit intimated by your "SMARTNESS"..lol he always thought you were smarter than beyond your years (if that makes any sense....)AND would tell everyone how you were the first one in our family to graduate college...lol) He had his own language, but somehow we could all "disyfer" what he was saying and we knew exactly what he meant...(his word he liked to use when he was teaching you how to do math) I think his language will continue on forever and always. Thank you for writing such a wonderful letter about your Dad, it makes me very proud to read it. I love you with all my heart, and so did he. MOM (i wrote this and then I lost it, so i wrote another one and then this one posted too)
Amazing blog, Chell! It is a perfectly written expression of your Dad's life. I'm sure he would still like to hear a little more of how "incredibly good looking he was"...lol
Thank you for all the sweet comments! Mom-just to get things clear, I know I was dad's favorite and that he was mostly proudest of me! lol. I just chose to use zach as an example to relate to in my explanations! The next blog will most likely be about how I was the best and his most favorite! Now that that is clear- lex and zach i know he was still a little proud of yall. (ok maybe alot proud of yall too.. but Im still sticking to be the favorite!)
